Volos is a town situated on the eastern side of the central part of Greece, in Pagasetic bay. It’s center of the region Magnesia and is one of the busiest Greek seaports. Area of Volos has been inhabited since ancient times and the development of today's modern city began in the 19th century. According to many people Volos is one of the most beautifully planned and built Greek cities.
Volos has about 150,000 inhabitants. One of the most developed industrial centers of Greece, with highly developed production of steel and cement. Port of Volos is the third busiest maritime and passenger port in Greece, from which daily rides ferries to the Sporades islands. One part of the Volos port is reserved for charter boats, so that Volos is most significant starting point for sailing forwards to Sporades archipelago.
Area of Volos is rich with archaeological sites which are very interesting for history lovers, and during the summer you can enjoy on idyllic surrounding beaches with picturesque taverns where you can taste great local specialties.
