Cyclades - sailing, traveling, destination informations
In the southern part of the Aegean Sea lies the archipelago of 220 beautiful islands, the Cyclades. Stretch from the southeastern part of the peninsula Attica and the island of Euboea to the shores of Asia Minor. Cycladic islands are mostly hilly; those more northern were built mainly of limestone, gneiss and slate, while the southern islands like Milos and Santorini of volcanic origin. Largest and most famous Cyclades islands are: Amorgos, Andros, Ios, Mykonos, Milos, Naxos, Paros, Santorini and Syros. Lavrion port on the southeast of Attica is an ideal starting point for sailing to the Cycladic islands and is therefore called the gate and the Cyclades. Cyclades are one of the most popular and the most beautiful tourist areas of the Mediterranean.
