Island Krapanj

Krapanj is a small island of the Šibenik archipelago, located 300 m from the nearest land settlement Brodarica. Island Krapanj has an area of 0.36 square kilometers, and with a height of 1.25 m is the lowest inhabited Croatian island. Island Krapanj nurtures centuries-old tradition of sponge harvest/industry, and the sponges are proof of purity and beauty of the Adriatic Sea.

This picturesque island is adorned by beautiful stone houses and small narrow streets, especially know is the monastery of St. Cross with a bell tower from 16.st, whose museum hold numerous objects that speak about distant history of the settlement's colonization. In the village there is a gallery of sponges, where you can buy various souvenirs of the sponge. Krapanj has one hotel, Spongiola, in front of which is a beautiful beach with white stones. There are also shops and a few taverns and cafes.

On Krapanj you can anchor from some of the nearby marinas: Marina Frapa - Rogoznica, Marina Kremik - Primošten, Marina Mandalina - Sibenik, ACI Marina Vodice, Marina Tribunj, ACI Marina Jezera.

Krapanj is daily connected with the mainland by regular boat line from Brodarica.

There are no cars on Krapanj, so the island is an ideal for those who looking for peace and escape from the daily bustle.
